I am at work instead of out shredding the gnar like I should be but last nights storm seemed to deliver some nice light snow. Mt Rose claims 10 - 14", my guess would be closer to 10 but maybe more, I probably got 6 - 8 at my place in incline. It sounds like the next storm will show up tomorrow and the snow will have a much higher water content and a higher snow level, but i'm hearing another foot above 7k is possible.

I hit up the ski area and sidecountry today. There is definitely a crust under the new snow, pretty easy to get sluffs going and possibly release to some lower layers where the crust can be punched through. It was cold all day and a rapid warming with wet snow or rain on top of the light density snow sounds a bit sketchy to me avywise, but I hope I'm wrong. Upper elevations seemed to be holding together a bit better though.

Excellent windblown. 6" to 12" NE sides of crossloaded gully's.-------------BUTTER----------some signs of soft slabs going last night but I couldn't get anything to release. gotta love the Seirra's
WTF! I was really loving the Sierras a few days ago, but after two days of rain at all elevations, not so much love right now. Or maybe it's global warming I should be hating?

the squaw report (good because it gives totals for the year)

rain here at lake level and it sure looks like rain or very little new snow at higher elevation in the mount rose area. unless saturday is bigger than they are predicting I don't think things are going to be all that great.
