Just seeing if anyone has interest in heading down to Cedar Breaks Saturday early morning? SNOTEL I found has 34" of snow on the ground. Could be fun to poke around down there?
Having more or less the same thought, Red Canyon (Bryce) area perhaps. Never been touring in this area, would be winging it completely. [edit] BTW I'm in the worst physical condition of my entire life, so maybe not the best partner at the moment.

nice pics Dave! Assuming I don't OD on adderall this week, I'm done with finals on friday and looking to get out sunday (gotta work a double on saturday). Looking to do a leisurely big day if anyone wants to join.
Would be great to get out touring with you. I'm heading south with Snovols Saturday, but if I'm feeling recovered Sunday I'd like to join you.

I'm sure most of you guys have seen this..

Pits are fun when your getting those kind of results. Is it just me or does his tap have a little downward push to it? it looked funky to me on the Extendedly Extended CT. Anyways, from the computer desk things sound grim. Wind effect up high, no snow down low, crusty rocks on the Sfacing. Any beta would be appreciated (Dave, Bucky). Thinking I'll probably just go for a long walk. Take care.

^^^AMAZING, Dave. Well done.
Rode Upper Wfacing, it was a bit of a sandbox which was good for the immediate avalanche concerns for the line we planned to ride, but probably not so good for the future.
It was beautiful.

Hey I've got no pix, but a few observations.
Went up Soapstone to Wolf Creek. Found nice depths on N NE aspects. 2 to 3 feet. Crusty tops with pillow trees.
Snow feels good, as in there seems to be a base developing. No whoomping or cracks.
Clouds hung low all day so no chance to see much. But from what we did see; no recent activity.
Could be a poor snow hangover from last couple of years, but for this time of year, I am stoked on the snowpack that we've got!
Pix next time.

Went out Saturday to the West Desert after working early in the morning. Since I didn't know how long I would be at work on Saturday I took the stuff just in case I could run up to the mountains. I went up to a couloir, not sure of the name but it isn't one of the main ones in the Stansburys. The snow pack is very similar to what we have here. Snow line was all the way to the car. The 4 mile approach skin went by fairly quickly at an hour and 17 minutes. I walked as fast as I could pretty much.

I dug a pit and results I was pretty confident it wouldn't slide but not having a partner I had a gut feeling not to keep going. I pulled the plug on it. Several deer center punched this bad boy though.

This zone is where I should have gone to though. Dead fall was the main reason I didn't. .

Gotta love people in Grantsville

Yesterday I went out to silver fork to poke around. Ran across a small slide. 20' wide and ran maybe ran 100'? I started getting closer to it felt a small collapse and decided I didn't care enough about it to put myself in danger.

Here is Ryan scoping the various lines it has to offer though.
