Just in - from the avy center report and numerous other first hand reports, it appears as though windslabs will be widespread throughout SW Montana. Word is that serious windslabs were forming on the ridge at Bridger today, not a good sign for other areas as well. Be careful out there!

This last Oct snow came in really cold & with enough wind to load certain aspects - especailly at ridgelines. Not sure how much the southern areas got but we got ~13" of cold smoke up this way - definitely enough for slab formation & my trip yesterday I definitely saw enough sign of instability I stayed on more mellow & safer terrain. Incredible snow - just be careful & pay attention to what's above you! Just make sure & have brains in-gear & pay attention. Its only Nov. 1st? damn!

On 1/7/07 it was 20-50mph winds. Luckily we were playing in some mostly safe terrain. It was major unstable with winds slabs on ice crust. Fun turns in spin drift on safe terrain though - crazy shit.
