Hey all,

I just transplanted myself from Burlington, Vermont to Lausanne, Switzerland for at least a year... probably longer. I am stoked for the opportunity to spend some time in the Alps, and am looking to meet some local shredders to exchange beta and head out with this winter. I have only spent a little time on this forum on/off for the past several years, but thought it might be a good resource to hook up with some folks around here.

A bit more about me: I finished a PhD this spring at UVM and have come to Switzerland for a postdoc at EPFL. For the past 8 years I was living in Vermont mostly touring/riding in the vicinity of Mount Mansfield (Stowe pass holder) and other Northern VT peaks with occasional forrays to the White Mountains and ADKs. I spent one season in CO (near Vail) and have taken several other trips to various spots around North America, but am completely new to the Alps.

Post here or drop me a line if you are in the area and interested in at least talking more.

Cheers!
Josh

Also this to get familiar with how many place there actually are in the Alps:

The Powder Status function on Wepowder will not start working again untill about early December, but it's the most acurate weather prediction there is.

Hey Josh, Rafamol,

If you're around in the Chamonix area this season give me a shout. I'm looking for some more splitters to hang out with this year as my regular splitboarding partner has moved to a different continent. Happy also to consider other areas - am based in UK so I have to travel whatever, but have local knowledge of Cham area. Been splitboarding for 3 years, boarding for about 16. Looking to do some steeper and higher stuff this year - or just any touring (one or multiday)!

Give me a shout if interested and we can chat more.

Emma

Can't meet up since I live in the states now ;), but I grew up in Germany and spent a great deal of my life riding in these awesome places! You will have a blast!! You are in the perfect spot. You are looking straight at Portes du Soleil and both Verbier and Chamonix are so close!

Go ride Verbier and hang out at Pub Mont Fort, beware of the posers, but it's a good place to meet people.

Enjoy!
