What would you guys rate the flex on these boards ? Soft 1- stiff 10? 6-7 maybe?

This might help:

I would rate the Venture Storm 166x26: 9
I would rate the Venture Odin 169x26: 10

On that scale, the furberg 173s I have flexed felt like a 7-8 or so. I think this design has to be a just a tad softer to maintain maneuverability with the lesser sidecut. Note that I have had no problems with stability with the furberg at speed, it is also a little firmer through the mid section than many boards.

Not sure if this adds anything, I'm probably splitting hairs here. Daniel did tell me that the second year boards (12-13) had a slightly different flex pattern than the first year decks (which is what I think Barrows has). They stiffened up the nose and tail a little bit but softened flex in the middle. I am not certain but I don't think they changed from 12-13 to this year.
For what it's worth, I have ridden both versions of the solid 67 and I couldn't tell a difference though I did ride them on different days.

Can't comment on flex because I ordered the 162 so it will take a while before I get it.

Hopefully we get good coverage by then :)

Heh - I received a furberg today!

However, it is the wrong size, so I will be returning it. Does look solid quality, no complaints from the look of it.

The sidecut is very exciting. Remember the vid where the skier dude is raving about his new fat skis and the boarder is "Like a snowboard" - well without wanting to start a thing the furberg is "Like skis"

Cheers
Ivo

Hi Hampus -

Yes, no worries. We are in touch with Jake. I'll send this one back and wait for the 162 when it's ready - just in time for Christmas :D

Cheers
Ivo

HFT, I'm curious why you went with the 67 instead of the 73. I've gotten a few days this season on my solid 167 now and I'm questioning my impressions from last season. I originally felt like the 173 was too much for me but now I'm thinking it might be a better size for a splitboard (merry Christmas to me). Adding 30 pounds or whatever for gear, etc. Also, not that float is a problem, but I found last week at times I had to ride in others' tracks to maintain speed (infamous WC flats). Just rethinking I guess, I had been convinced that 167 was the right size for both solid and split.

I thought the 67 would be more versatile based on what I've read and heard from friends. For reference I am 170# 6'2". I'm going in blind though so we shall see! Probably wont be riding it for awhile though, at least not around here.
