I've just signed up, hoping to represent NOLS here and share some of the collective knowledge we've gained over the past 15 years running splitboard courses in the Tetons, as well as
instructors personal experience on expeditions as well, ranging from Chile to Alaska to the Himalayas.
This is a bit of a plug for our program. We are a not for profit school with bass around the world. We teach outdoor education in a variety of discaplines, but we focus on backcountry travel in the Tetons during the winter.
Courses are 12-21 days in length. at least nine days of all courses is spent in the backcountry based out of snowcaves and tents. The 23 and over courses spend a couple of nights in a yurt. There is a strong focus on avy skills and terrain management, but all aspects of winter camping and backcountry travel are covered in depth. As far as I can tell we offer the most immersive backcountry splitboard available. If you want to jump in with both feet, and be able to confidently get far into the backcountry, and be well prepared for emergency situations, or unplanned nights out I think we offer the most comprehensive course available for this. We've give you the skills to be able to tackle traverses in style, and eliminate much of the trial and error that comes with learning on your own. Not that that's a bad thing, it's one of the best ways to learn, but we've been through it already and can save you allot of time and effort.
This year we've added a 23 and over snowboard course. In includes two nights in a yurt, 7days in snowcave and a recreational avy 1.
Check out the web site if you are interested.
Thanks for looking
