I spent few days over summer splitting my old Malolo (not to mention $100 on the split kit, another $130 on Sparks skins) intent on using it this upcoming season.

Found a brand new 2012/2013 K2 Panoramic kit for $450. Now, I'm trying to debate whether to keep the K2 Panoramic and return the Sparks Skins or just ride my DIY Malolo this season...

How is the Panoramic board+skin? worth the $450? maybe keep both setups?

I looked at the K2 when I got offered such a deal.
The problem I think is weight. It is heavier than the regular DIY and also the graphics have stayed the same over the years. I am not sure what year mine was, just make sure it is in fact last years.

I'm happy with DIY and would say any board you like cut in half is probably better than a K2.

When I get my sparks Magneto I am also going to get the extra kit to replace the raisers and touring bracket on my DIY board. I have bought spare parts from voile so I have a complete kit to offer a friend.

I always recommend a DIY for a first timer. For one building them are really fun, secondly as a first time splitter, learning to skin will do a lot of damage to your board. As you split more you will learn what type for terrain you like and can purchase a factory split if you wish. That way if you decide to drop a grand on a new deck, you won't scratch the Hell out of it on the first tour haha!

I got my wife the K2 Panoramic Kit. She loves the Panoramic, aside from the graphics. So we never got around to DIY cutting her Malolo. The kit is a great value and would be a great splitboard for some one starting out.
