It's that time of the year, the itch has started... I'm surfing the web looking at gear I don't need and buying some, with money I don't have. This is pretty badass though, a thermoelectric cook pot that can charge your USB devices:
check it out www.thepowerpot.com

I kind of want to try it but it only takes what, 10 or 12 minutes to boil water for cooking or coffee, not nearly long enough to do much charging. Maybe in winter when melting snow it might be more reasonable...

Haven't used one, but hard to see the value in charging your device for only 10 minutes. Which is a long time to wait for boiling water. So that stove doesn't look great for performing either of its primary functions.

Over the last season I've become very used to using Gaia gps on my phone when touring, so I'm very cognizant of keeping my phone in juice.

For keeping usb devices (phone) charged in the field, I use this thing... http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-Charger- ... +powerpack

Lots of people like the Mophie products too, but they are pretty I phone centric.

yeah you wont get too much of a charge.

that being said you can put it on anything, havent tried it on a campfire but in theory you could get a lot longer charge (unless you melt your wires!)

theres also the biolite stove that is a huge hit.

kindling into battery power
between that and a folding solar panel should be easy to keep a phone and backup battery charged,
