Another good way to remove one of these guys after epoxy is to heat the t-nut from either the top or bottom with the tip of soldering gun, just hot enough to loosen up the epoxy and as mentioned earlier, install your m6 and give it a nice stout whack. You might pull some wood core out with the t-nut, just fill it back in with resin.

Digging up this old thread after searching quite a bit for an answer...
Soooo, I need to remove a t-nut also. The hole I drilled for this specific t nut is perfect, but somehow as I was tourque-ing the t nut and bolt together, I managed to strip the t nut within the hole. Meaning- the t nut and bolt are extremely tight, but the t nut is spinning in the hole. The t nut doesn't want to grab and hold any longer.
Now I need to remove the t nut and bolt, but I haven't been successful because the t nut is spinning freely and the bolt is installed really tight with in the t nut. I have tried using vise grips to hold the t nut while I use a screwdriver to free the bolt from the t nut. So far- no luck.
Anybody have any other good ideas about how to separate the bolt form the t nut now that the t nut is not biting into the wood at all?!

CPS, If you can fit them in the hole, needle-nosed visegrips would hold the nut while you unscrew the bolt.
I assume the teeth have been bent flush with the flat part of the nut. Another option would be to pry up and bend a portion of the visible part of the nut with a flathead screwdriver or putty knife, then hold it with proper needle-nosed pliers (more force will be applied to a smaller area than the needle-vise). Avoid messing up the base with a block of wood to lever the driver/knife against. I say lever b/c twisting would damage the core.
Of course, this would mean destroying the current nut and replacing it.

Best way to remove a spinning insert is to drill a small hole just off to the side of the tread from the bottom. If one isn't enough drill 2. Make the hole the same size as a rivot shaft. Drill the hole so that it just goes through the insert but not all the way through to the top sheet. its just like making your own Snake eyes driver
Insert the two rivot shafts into the holes which should go all the way through the insert and stop in the core. The insert will no longer spin. I assume you will be putting in another insert so it makes no difference if you drill into the epoxy that would have been covering the insert.
I've done a few repair like this on peoples DIY projects and on factory board that have the inserts spinning due to cross threading.
