From last Sunday on Blackmore. Poor photo quality (my specialty), but lots of sliding on NW aspects. A few pockets on the NW side of Blackmore had ripped out as well.

This photo is looking down into Alex Lowe basin? We're heading up there tomorrow night - thanks for the beta.

Cool photo Cody. That basin seems to always have sizeable releases in the spring for whatever the reason. I have seen lots of June to-the-ground wet slabs go back there over the years.

affirmative Sam.
Nick, I was a little surprised to see it step down like that.

Started up the Blackmore trailhead at 20:30 on Friday night

Image

Camped out, had coffee and breakfast and were on the summit around 09:00.

The NW faces acopafeel mentioned were definitely slid out and there was lots of debris. The NE stuff was bomber though. No fail in our pit but the top 10 to 15 cm made for some slow sloughs that were fun to ride in front of.

Image

Snow line is 15 or 20 minutes walk above the lake. Hiking with board, boots, and camping gear is heavy.

Thanks, boss. That may have been my last trip for the season, we'll see. I took the batteries out of my transceiver and stashed my skins away extra carefully in the event those things end up sitting in a box for a few months.

Nice one samh! Cool photo of you with Alex Lowe in the background. Nice to hear of a low snow line around there yet. Surprised you didn't just bust out the "Teton Style" approach with snow so close to the trailhead. Us softbooters have to take the (few) advantages where we can :) !

Image

Snow line in this part of the 'tooths is still pretty low too! ~8,600'! Great shredding still to be had. Some steeper things are forming runnels, but most stuff isn't and is still great at the right time of day.
