So here's the part that Tex didn't explain.

Tex and I talked on the phone the night before. He wanted to leave early. I said later was fine. We got to the TH first and nobody was there, but breaking trail was slow going and a bitch with all the new snow. About 1/2 way up we here a group behind us. 2/3 of the way up 4 splitters catch up in our skintrack. 3/4 of the way up, 4 skiers come up behind them in the skin track. We're all a bit nervous that our 3 became 11 and we're all going to be standing on top of the slide figuring out a drop order. Then right before the top I look back. The 4 splitters are gone. The skiers head off toward another known spot up there and I confirm with them they aren't going to our line. 15 min later, the 3 of us alone at the top of 2k' of bliss.

ImFunk drops it all..untouched. :thatrocks:

It definitely feels good to be back in action. After a 6 week lay off it felt great to get some final turns on Hood and then hit the East Side for the first time. What was a week of annoyance that I was going to miss the OR Splitfest turned into a great weekend in the Sierra's. Big thanks to Tex for being a great Splitboard Ambassador of the Eastern Sierra. He gave me enough beta in a weekend trip to keep me busy for many years. Lots of big lines out there!

The snow is definitely thin. Tex apologized a half dozen times about the lack of coverage. The Ambassador takes his job seriously! I'm hoping for a late season snow rebound like we've been getting in the NW the last couple years. If not, I'm willing to work harder to get to the snow.

Again, Tex & JBay, I appreciate the hospitality. Can't thank y'all enough.
