Powdercoat or anodise is the question. Which one has less ice build up? anodise seems to look nicer for longer but is it more likely to have ice build up? or is ice build up solely on shape and geometry of the binding.

Anodizing is not a coating, it is a case hardening procedure that actually penetrates into the aluminium making it much harder. Powder coating is just a coating and is usually best left for parts that do not have tight tolerances as the thickness can vary a lot.

What is the job you are looking at?

Powdercoating by far will ice up less. The glossier the finish and the lighter the color work best. Powdercoating also hides all the flaws in the finish.

Have you looked into CeraKote? It's a ceramic coating that is applied and baked. It is much more durable than a powder coating, but I am not sure how it would shed snow...
