Bails thread in .312 so there is around 10 threads captured, engineering wise the first three threads actually do the work withthe rest becoming a safety factor. I cannot speak for finn at bomber industries but this method gets away from the sharp 90 bend used on other bail systems that is a weak point where bails tend to break. That said racers/ carvers will put way more stress on the equipment than we can generate and still use 5mm bails to dampen out the chatter and ruts stein: Yes the mounts pivot on the axle

After having these units in my greasy hands for the past few months, I figured it was time for a review.
Overall I am really happy with them, they have served me extremely well on aprox 20 touring days. On the initial tests in my living room, they seemed quite snug on my boots, but in the cold when the plastic boot shrinks a bit, they are easier to "snap on". It's nice being so much closer to the board, I don't feel like I'm on stilts anymore. Vapor claims a left and right; I can't see a difference, but have no reason to doubt him and have marked them appropriately.
I had to modify the pucks to allow clearance for the rear bail shaft. If you think before you cut, the mod does not prevent you from using those pucks with regular slider plates. I don't know if Vapor did this intentionally, but I am glad the way it worked out.
Pros: lightweight low profile - both on the board and in my pack reasonable cost - actually, cheap like borscht
cons: they don't work with softboots ( ha ) mods required to puck ( prevents this from being "plug and play" )
As I am no metalurgist, I can't comment on the quality of his welding, but it looks good and the shits been holding up, so what can I say. And the rest of his work is excellent.
All in all, I'm glad I sang out for a pair back in October. Did I say glad...should have said "orgasmic". I've been digging them.
Thanks Vape!

You seem to have spies out here! I don't know if I've met Dave. But big swallowtail? I'd say so...190cm! It has been a great year for gear. gary
