So, I've been reading about the new Tesla System since the trade shows, and I'm wondering what you all think...will the Telsa (Afterburner and Magneto) make the Burner and Blaze LT obsolete?
I know that folks will still use them (and that the used market will always be there), but assuming that the Tesla comes in around the same price point (which I understand it will) will shops continue to carry the Burner and Blaze and will Spark continue to offer them (again, I know they will be offered next year, but after that). Hopeful that Spark will carry extra pins, etc., for a while, but why would someone buying a new binder go with the pin system if they were buying Sparks?
I used the Fuse with LT for a few years and upgraded to the Burner LT this year...thinking that I'm not going to upgrade again next season, but maybe in the future. The new system looks sweet.

Seems like the two systems would be redundant. Maybe Spark will test the market with both for a season, but I would expect the pin-based bindings to go away in favor of the Magnetos. Spark will stock up on warranty parts before stopping production, so folks should be set for a while. After that you may just want to buy the upgrade kit and convert your pin Sparks to Magnetos. Of course you would not be able to sell your own bindings to help with the move then.

I really like the look of the new Sparks, and I can see myself maybe upgrading. But really, its not that huge a deal. Your saving putting a pin in, everything else is the same. I don't have any issue with raising my heel lifts as is.
One thing I like is that they still use the puck system. I find that even if you are iced up you can still ram the bindings on.
Not putting the system down at all, I love spark. Just saying I don't feel my current setup is even close to obsolete as a result. I always wait a bit anyways and let everyone else find out the systems weak links

Yes the new magneto is a step into a new dimension - pinless and climbingbare wire includet . No - blaze and burner with pin s are not RIP. the are diferent models and systems. The customer and the market will show the way....accept ore no accept.

that's one thing Will from Spark said. Their Edison system had issues with snow and ice, so they decided not to release because of that. But the puck system rarely gets too iced up that you can't slide the binding in.

...also agree that we might not see new burner/blazes in 13/14.
there will be blaze and burner models in 13/14, but who knows after that season?

If I were to buy new bindings I would buy the magnetos. But as a Blaze owner I dont see the need to "upgrade" You still have to fiddle with something to change modes. And you still have to use your poles to get to the heel riser. Whats the rush anyway? Get out there and have fun. If you skier friend cant wait 30 sec for you to transition at the top...... Its not Rando Race we are doing.
Did somebody say TESLA.....A great name for a sick piece of gear.
Here's Kory from Spark, and myself doing some field testing at the backyardaustria.com
