Hey,
My wife and I are heading to Canmore for 5 days at the end of the month and are bringing our touring stuff. Not being familiar with the area was looking for some good options nearby for a day tour. Have had a couple areas mentioned to me, but figured I throw it out here to see. Thanks for any info.

Black Prince is closed because a bear is sleeping on the skin track. Tryst lake is decent until about 10 o' clock on a powder day when the Black Prince crowd shows up. If you really like cross-country splitboarding you could go to Burstall pass. Chester lake has a big long flat snowshoe trail that leads up to a lake where you can either ride flat gay pow, or bootpack 2200ft up one of the more terrifying couloirs in the Rockies. Tent ridge is decent sometimes if the Black Prince crowd is at Tryst lake. I think that about covers the standard guidebook areas, so now you don't need to buy a used Chic Scott book.
Sorry if I seem a little cynical about the area at the moment. It's a mess of hard-slab and facets in the Rockies at the moment. Honestly, you should probably bring a mountain bike, or some fat-pants and just go for ice-cream.
