also from edmonton, we hit up 93, k-country, golden and rogers typically with my group although jasper could be good as well, nice to have some like minded people in this city
Hey guys, My buddy and i are trying to organize a day of heli assisted touring on February 2nd with eagle pass heli. It's $1200+tax for a group of 4 which is roughly $300 and change each. If anyone is interested drop me a line on here or @ 403-869-4106
Looking at heading out to the mountains for a day of touring Friday. Looking at fairview/surprise pass, Sherbrooke lake slide path, or k country depending on hazard. Haven't been to the area in about a month anyone have any Intel as to what's looking good or places to go we're open to suggestions and open to some people meeting up with us as well.

I was on Mt Murry (Kaninaskis) last weekend. North aspect, wind crust buried with 10cm of fresh on top. It seemed pretty solid, we were on a 40+ ish slope. I have not been out Sherbrooke Lake way in a while so no news for ya there. Not many hit up Sherbrooke so it should still be good. Try the path on the east side of the lake. Very good terrain there. The slide path to the west has allot of bigger trees in it, may not be filled in yet.
Heyhey Calgary splitters!! I'm in the area for a little bit and would love to get out in the Rockies. I mostly shred in the kootenays so looking for something different. Pm me if your searching for a trusty partner. Kcountry would be awesome!
I haven't been out since Nov. . . Looking at doing a day trip down from Edmonton on a Sunday or Monday in the next couple weeks. Let me know if anyone is interested.
Black Prince was powtastic today. About 20cm of fluffy sitting on top of a stable base, no tracks. If you go that way just park a little down the road. There were some CO's, I think ticketing cars in front of the entrance. It is technically closed for bear activity ( I think those signs were from back in November) I did not see any signs of Bears. But there was lots of cougar tracks.
It does not seem as if CBC has all their facts in line
From the Kaninaskis Public Safety Section
"Black Prince Closure from the Kananaskis District Conservation Officers. There is a phone number to reach the Conservation officers if you have any additional questions.
The Nov. 20, 2012 closure to protect the den site area for grizzly bear #94 and her three cubs remains in place for the Black Prince area. A couple of changes have been made on this closure that all users should be aware of . The east boundary and north boundary have been slightly modified, mainly to allow easier access into some of the skiable areas(please see the attached map). The Black Prince Day Use area , interpretive trail area and “cone” remain closed and a ban on all dogs from entering the area known as “Kenny’s Run”-north area of closure. This was put in place after two skiers with dogs off leash entered into the closure. Please respect this closure and if you have any questions on the closure please call the Barrier Lake Visitor Centre at 403-673-3985 or the Conservation Officer desk at 403-591-6309.
Thanks Kananaskis District Conservation Officer "
Allot of the area is still open for skiing/riding. I have not been out there since my post on Dec 30. There is much better terrain in good condition now. A few lazy people that are not willing to walk a bit may be going through the closure.
Anyone heading out tomorrow or Sunday? Looking to get out, Summit or laps, whichever. My original plan was Crowfoot mtn today but partner couldnt make it.
