I used to be pretty active on a climbing forum and the chicky forum was a cool idea at first but then devolved into period questions, "does he like me if he asks me to go climbing" and more dating advice. Anything about women's specific gear/shoes etc was quickly buried and yes, the forum obviously got trolled ad nauseum.

I'm not sure I'd get much out of a women's forum, personally. Maybe I'd have a few women-specific gear questions, but the traffic would probably be so low it wouldn't be all that useful. I don't limit myself to women's boards, bindings, packs, etc., and many outerwear/accessories companies have similar offerings in their men's and women's lines, so guys' advice is fairly useful for that stuff. And lots of guys know women who ride and can give at least a little insight due to that. I don't know, I guess I'm just used to having to adapt and make do, and it doesn't seem like that big a deal.
As far as women-specific riding or touring issues, I guess I figure that if I'm slower or more cautious than the guys I'm out with it's because I'm a beginner and need to just buck up and get with it. It does help a bit to talk to women who really rip and see that it isn't being female that holds me back, but I don't see the need to sequester women's trip reports, etc., in a separate section. It's all stoke.
i approve of this message. it's like the identity politics that put me in office. we all need our special interests cuz that's what will really bring us all together. i hear by declare february the official un-splitboarding month. we must unify!
