Does anyone have any Beta on Cold Fusion? Thinking of heading that way this weekend. How long of an approach is it and what not?

That looks to be exactly what I need for Ironman training! I am already tired of riding the trainer indoors. I want to get out on my bike but will gladly take all of the snow I can get.

thanks^^...don't mean to turn this into a mountain bike thread, but if you're looking for some winter xc riding Round Valley up in PC has been really good. They have a giant xc track you can ride and most of the single track trails are rideable as well. Seen a bunch of normal mountainbike tracks, the snow has been firm enough especially in the morning.

Can anybody tell me about recent snow quality? Its been pretty warm up there.

Corey, I rode west desolation today and the shady northerly slopes are holding well. Some actually have few square feet of untracked snow
Southern aspects swing from crispy to manky, but if u plan when you hit them the riding is pretty good.
Too early or late and not so fun.

I'm thinking about putting a mount for my split on a fat bike for packed/plowed roads that are closed in winter. A bike as an approach tool??? Hmmmm

Went SHREDding with some rippers from ORegon. Super fun day. The goal was solitude, good snow preferebly unridden, and good views. Managed to find all three. Heard winds hammered everything up high so went for lower elevation protected via a classic Bob Athey tour.











Mar123 I saw some guys on a couple of those bikes up on the Alta cat that everyone skate skis. Looks fun.

Went up to get a general feel for the snow so I can somewhat make a connection to the reports I'm going to read for the next five days. Dug two pits W and NE facing 9100ish. West I found deeper snow due to cross loading and clean shears on top of a distinct crust from before Fridays small dense storm. Easy shear on new to old as well, so basically easy shears above and below the dense slab from Friday. It was too windy to take pictures but it was cool. On north east facing I remotely triggered a small wind slab on one of the steeper sections of the ridge. Winds were nuking it. Was limited to the new snow only. My pit however same aspect showed the weakest layer was the surface facet layer formed over the long highpressure (3 C's). Pretty dense slab on top of that. The rest of the snowpack, while funky seemed consolidated.



I would say condition are way improved but I haven't been up recently. Take care
