I'm a splitboarder and I have a problem. Like a confessing alcoholic I buy a few too many snowboards at times. My current splitboard fleet is at 5: Venture Odin, Venture Storm, Prior Khyber, Prior Backcountry XTC and Arbor Abacus. I want to get the fleet down to two.
My riding is Utah backcountry. Powder is where it's at but we all know how much conditions vary out there. My Storm, XTC and Arbor have never been mounted up. My Odin was new this year and my Kyber new last year. I felt my Khyber gave up too much versatility so I bought an Odin and holy smokes that's a purpose built board! I moved the needle way too far from Khyber to Odin so I think that board is gonna go.
I want fun, versatile and to not give up much in powder. My thoughts are to keep the Storm (I've owned that board before and really like it) and keep the Prior XTC (the carbon would be cool and light though I haven't liked most carbon boards I've ridden). So the question for my brothers-in-arms is: in this situation what would you do?

Mostly speculation, but here goes...
I had a Khyber last season and liked it, but I don't get as much pow as you. If I did, I may have kept it. With the big nose on that thing it felt like a bit of a boat and too much board for my conditions. I have a Zephyr and it is one of the best all-round boards I have ridden. In fact it is my fave so far among splitboards. The Storm is probably a little more pow-friendly than the Zephyr (bigger nose, slightly more taper) but keeps the overall shape and concept, so if I were in your shoes, I'd probably keep that one. I've never ridden the Prior BC, but if you wanted a light board for touring on less deep days, maybe that would round out the ticket.
So in other words, I am agreeing with you and think your plan is sound.

Thanks Phil. Similar impression of my Khyber, would be beautiful in powder but not as beautiful in the crud and ice. So your words are almost exactly why my thinking ended up where it has. I also love the Zephyr and it's probably my single favorite solid if I had to choose only one. I may be throwing some boards up on ebay.

I think I'm going to mount up the Storm and let it rip. I may keep the XTC for longer days as it's lightweight. I'll be putting up an Odin for sale. I feel like a boy on a mans board on that thing.
