Tunnel Creek Avalanche

Every single one of us should read this and watch the videos. It's extremely well done, and it's a wake up call. Thank you to the survivors who were willing to share their story(ies).

Ditto. This is a phenomenal piece of multimedia reporting by the NYTimes on the avalanche at Stevens Pass, WA earlier this year.

Incredible story of the backcountry tragedy. The reporting and presentation are so well done. A must-read for all board members!!!

Agreed, that was an excellent presentation of a sad story---and a reminder of what is important in life.

Finally got the time to read/view/listen my way through this exceptional multimedia article.

I can only agree with Jbay, we should all read this.

Bumping this thread up again, since this was the first one posted which got a little less response than the 2nd one posted
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14665&hilit=tunnel+creek

Also found another article about the article, that I liked.
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/s ... anche.html

Quote from it: “Even though people are capable of making decisions in a thorough and methodical way, it appears that most of the time they don’t.”

And this is definitely true for me: "But anyone who has pursued fresh snow out of bounds who says he hasn’t found himself drifting into that cloud of questionable judgment, even for a few moments, is lying."

Stay safe this season everybody!
