Quick question for anyone following this thread. I'm looking for some .75" x .75" aluminum square tubing. 1/16' wall for a cat track. For 116 pieces 16" long I was quoted at $267 after tax. I'm just curious if those of you with your own pneumatic presses find that reasonable or if you would recommend a different material. Steel is much cheaper but it conducts heat a lot more.

Aluminium actually conducts heat a lot better than steel, other than that aluminium is a much better material to use as steel will weigh a LOT. I would say you are paying a cutting fee as the pieces you ordered are only short and the material comes in 6.5m lengths. Cut it yourself if you can and save some $

Ive now built 4 solids and 1 split and Im starting to get the hang of it! Unfortunately I had a disaster with the split when I was laying it up, the dowel that aligns the top sheet broke off and cause the sheet to shift and mess up the margins! Its purely cosmetic but pisses me off none the less lol.

Those look gorgeous. I'm a big fan of the all natural look. Hire is the stiffness? Have you had to dial it in?
Every board I built has a different core thickness so I can find exactly which one suits me best. They go down in 0.2mm increments with the split being the thickest
