Yup, definitely not able to make up it's mind...but that super low high for tomorrow, plus what's left of the moisture in this system ought to make it better up above 7k. Carson pass perhaps on Wednesday just to have an easy-ish day
Next week may shape up to be pretty nice..

We are in Tahoe for the holidays.
We climbed up a ridge above the west shore today. The snow at lake-level sucked. Thin, wet, no base. By 7k', things were looking better. Once on the ridge we kept climbing and found deep, relatively dry snow and more was falling. North-facing slopes were holding snow well. We will go back up tomorrow and do some laps in the trees. As long as you stay high, there is decent potential.

surprised we didn't see ya A on RL on friday. We almost went to stevens on saturday. love that line down into the back bowl.
HEY - I'm trying to get a split delivered to Jm13 in south lake from the Bay Area. I can't get up there until before New Years. Is anyone in the Bay Area, hopefully north bay, going to south lake this week or weekend? Can you deliver a board for me? Thx.

We did some west shore BC riding in the forest today. I suspect I would get crap from the locals at how inefficient our approach is so I won't even be specific about which ridge we rode, but let's just say it was within walking distance of our current pad (important when you don't feel like driving anywhere) and it was good exercise.
Lake level and up to about 500' above lake level still pretty much sucks. Too thin, too much brush, etc.
Above that, life gets pretty good.

Nice pics ya got there philipAK! Snow looks ripe out there on the west shore! Did you guys see any natural or human triggered avys? I know the report called for considerable danger.... I think tommarow is gonna be the day to get "the goods"

No obvious signs of instability today, but then we stayed in the trees and didn't go on anything particularly steep. No whumpfing, no cracks, no slabs or sloughs in the trees where we rode. On steeper slopes out in the open could be a different situation though, and we could hear avy control booms from Alpine both days we have been out. The vis was pretty poor so it was hard to see what was going on on the peaks around us.

Darren, I'm heading up this weekend (Sat AM most likely) but as you know I'm in Oakland. Get at me if I end up being your only hope.
