Howdy I split my own board using the DIY from Voile. When I was sealing the base I put epoxy (G-Flex) into the T-nut, then put a disc on top of that. My problem is my discs are not flush with the base of my board so I put more epoxy on top of them.
However the epoxy seems to not want to stick too well with the discs. It chips off easy. I even have a disc that is sticking just over the base slightly. I'm not sure how to go about sanding/chipping off all the epoxy, and making this puppy smooth. Any thought/help would be appreciated, I'm not the best Carpenter lol.
If they are too low, you should drill them out and just fill (over the top) with epoxy. After it's cured, take it to the grinder. Nothing wrong with epoxy fill instead of p-tex disks, its actually stronger.

Could he fill the top of the ptex disc with a ptex candle?
The glue on the skins will pull the ptex out, because you won't have a sufficient bond.

Maybe p-tex holds the wax a little better? Slides a little faster?
Negligible and not worth the headache. If the holes are already too deep, the damage has been done. Those ptex disks are not all their cracked up to be. Epoxy fill works just peachy.

I had used hot glue last Christmas because I was in a hurry and the hardware store was closed. Now I want to properly install expoxy around the T-nuts but I was wondering if their is a special type of epoxy to use? I have used expoxy on whitewater kayak paddles when putting together shafts and blades but sometimes the expoxy has to much harder in it and it just cracks and comes apart if it takes a huge impact like a 30 footer or flexing to far!
Anyways any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
thanks for all the replys... TO the poster above, I used G-Flex epoxy and I know its highly rated for splitboard use. It has a pressure rating of 100,000 or more. The regular hardware store stuff is like 4,500psi. Its supposed to flex more. I got mine at a marine/boat store.
Pedro I too have had the most success with g-flex only, it does seem harder than the rest of the base though. After a base grind i noticed the t-nut-epoxied sections are slightly raised (maybe because the materials harder?) nothing that i lost sleep over. I tried some p-tex covered nuts on a board a couple of years ago and a couple of the discs got ripped with the skins (i destroyed this board shortly after while riding). G-flex may hold onto these discs better than the average epoxy I'm sold on the stuff. I've tried several other epoxies for de-lames and have been thoroughly unimpressed.
