Good choice with the sparks :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup: , but make sure to get lt pins, I was sceptical but damn are they effiecient. :drool:

I weighed a pair of 2013 Sparks and 2013 Karakorams tonight with my digital bike scale tonight and the results are as follows:

Karakoram
Medium Split 30 bindings (pair) 1680 grams
Hardware (4 ride mode plates, 2 heel lock climbing wires, 2 touring brackets, screws) 620 grams
Total Split 30 setup 2300 grams

Spark
Large Blaze bindings with LT pins (pair) 1440 grams
Hardware (4 voile pucks w/ gaskets, 2 voile dual climbing wires, 2 LT touring brackets, screws) 460 grams
Total Blaze LT setup 1900 grams

Yep, noticed the same thing last year when I switched to Sparks. Even the weight benefits of the $L's make those two systems almost identical in overall, which for the budget minded makes a big difference for the Sparks.

Philip.ak has an impossibly good unbiased side-by-side review on the site you should read. Both systems are very good with pluses/minuses to both. Competition is good and will lead to further innovation.

The Sparks were the better system for me, but you results may vary. I will say I do LOVE the fact that the straps/buckles are Burton sourced. Bomber and work so much better than earlier iterations.
