Latest conditions on Hood is very crusty and wet/heavy snow. The higher you go up, the crustier it gets. Areas wind exposed turned the wet snow into crust starting near 7k. I didn't have to go far past Silcox lodge to throw in the towel. Another splitboarder on the way down told me the top of Palmer was not worth the effort. Pretty much rode the summer run back to the parking lot. Lower portion of the mountain contained wet and heavy snow.

Hey you guys, I'm new to splitboard.com and forums in general, but looking for more people to go splitting/climbing with. I live in SE Portland, usually have Tue/Wed off and have a van for transportation. I try to get out every week, but busted up the ankle so I'm on the couch for now, but holler at me if you have any ideas this winter.

oh yeah, and for those of you wanting to know current conditions on hood, I climbed pearly gates on Monday and it was great climbing weather, but all the snow between the hogsback and the groomers on palmer was super wind effected and icy. The face coming off of old chute was good quality snow, but other than that it was pretty shitty. looks like some cold weather and precip are rolling in now though, so lets cross our fingers.

New in town. I just dropped off my board for some loving at next adventure earlier this week and got a chance to chat with Chris. This seems like a pretty rad crew. I got into splitting last season and have only done a few moderate routes - mostly solo (palmer glacier, st. helens, shuksan). I have avy1, mountaineering 101 and a subbie. Thinking about skinning up Hood this weekend to get back in shape. hit me up if you're interested.
Sweet, more pdx splitters. I think a couple of us are talking about going up on Sunday. It's supposed to dump this weekend. Any weekday warriors want to tour let me know. I'm usually off sun-tues and every other saturday.

Joey,
Mark and I were on the west side of White River yesterday. Coverage was looking too thin to access from the bottom. We came in from T-line. Rode a nice east face @ about 6500'. I cut a slide -on purpose-, it was 75' across, 2' deep, and ran 150'. Mid canyon is looking good.
