Hello fellow splitters...
Long story short, my DIY Splitboard fell from the roof rack in the parking lot (buddy didn't latch it properly) and I didn't notice any damage until I got home.
This was my first DIY Splitty and with the combination of the chinese hook holes being the first I ever drilled (therefore being a wee bit to deep) and the impact it took, the bolts for the hooks became loose and bent, also ripping up slightly the top sheet on the cut side of the board.
Sucks but I think I can fix this, my plan is....
-Using same Marine Epoxy, lift the top sheet slightly, fill and clamp down -Fill Chinese hook holes with wood epoxy -Re-drill holes -Insert new hardware and reinforce with washers (?)
Sound ok? Sorry no pics as of yet but I think you have an idea of what I'm dealing with.
Epoxy everything. You may even just epoxy the screws into the existing holes. I did this once to a DIY that had lose holes for the Chinese hooks. The wood epoxy doesn't sound like a good idea, but its hard to gauge without photos of your shame...
Just my good luck! and post your fix photos.
