So this is right up my alley, I've been looking forward to a one binding world since i saw the Edison at last years trade show. None the less, what do you know think about this whole jump start business deal they got going on. Is it legit, must i pre-purchase this system and then wait until they reach their 20000$ goal, and if they don't what do they do with the money I gave them?
Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I started to make something very similar back in "09". I was trying to develop a light weight approach ski and universal system that could go between a solid board, an approach ski or a split with the same binding. After spending a lot of my own $ on design and a patent search (before Mt Approach) I gave up on the approach ski because who wants to carry any extra weight in their pack on the way down anyways? maybe i should have kept going with the slider plate as it is a good idea. Good luck to these guys!

"why have 5 sets of bindings when you can have one?" Because I don't want to wear out the more expensive beloved bc binding riding the solid at the resort, because I always take 2-3 different boards to the resort and don't want to change over bindings when I stop to swap boards between runs, because voile system doesn't hold up to extreme carving in hardboots, because I already have 5 sets of stepin plate bindings set up on 5 very different resort boards.
It does however look like a great system for the strappy lacey types that only have one good set of binders to use on different boards

Pretty cool idea for sure, we have the same thing but a much more simplified version. Love to see the innovation but I'm not sure they will find a huge market for them. They are fantastic for sled days though and that is the huge reason that we got a run of the plates. They have been a slow seller but the people who got them are really into it.
These are an ideal solution to those days when you have split or solid riding options and don't want to pack extra weight. Think about sbowboard trips when you fly, you could pack a couple boards and 1 pair of binders for the whole trip, and have splits and solids ready to ride.
If you have fixed stance angles, and can drill holes in plastic, I highly recommend the blank slider plates from Chair2Sports / B-P. they are machined very well and very strong. You can adjust toe to heel any degree you want. Awesome for DIY splits using factory inserts as well!
I usually have to adjust my stance a little during the season. My ankle starts to hurt sometimes and a +-3 adjustment usually helps. So atleast for me the solid plates are not an option.
We adjusted heel dimensions to fit exact to sparks as its a 1/4 inch set forward. This places the binding right were it needs to be for each size of spark binding. We also like the fact that we can adjust the stance every once and a while. Along with that its pre scripted to be cut up into pucks to turn any snowboard into a split... Our test have gone great and were looking to have the molded zytel plates this fall.
I took a chance on these as I was heading to Japan back in February and didn't want to lug two sets of bindings half way across the world. They did exactly what I expected and worked perfectly well. Would recommend them to anyone travelling with lots of gear but I think on balance I'd rather ride my traditional bindings on my solid if the travel wasn't an issue
