I'm all about doing free heel telemark ski turns.

But I sure as hell would like a heel locking system for tricky uphill bits!!

Someone find that vid of the old guy ripping manic tele turns on Voile plates. While I would appreciate some form of heel lock, I haven't found conditions as of yet where it would be an absolute necessity. i.e. tail clips on skins. Patience is lighter. :twocents:

I'm a decent skier, and even telemarketed for a few years. But when gettin through tight trees in rolling terrain, with sloppy slush, it would be very nice to be able to lock it down. Do a few miles of spring Gore Range runout and get back to me about your split-tele skills...

Not fair he gets special powers from his beard(and forgotten jays). I can barely turn on my light tele x-country set-up with old leather boots and springs. Heel lock would be great.

Mine? Terrible. But there are quite a few tours in the area that require skiing out several km, skins and even sans skins. And the challenge and hilarity of it all make up for the slog. As I said, I wouldn't say no to some form heel lock down by any means, but I don't consider the lack of it detrimental to the splitboarding I enjoy.

For slow, short, low angle and easy stuff I like the free heel because you can glide easier. I have been testing the heel lock downs and for stuff that requires a bunch of turning or steep faster stuff, I am digging the lockdowns. I don't see the use for them a whole lot, but it sure beats walking or side slipping fearing my skins are going to slide right off. I have ten pairs I'm putting together this week of a lighter version and should have some testing on them soon as the snow is coming... :bananas:
