went out for the first time ever on sunday! we headed up parker's ridge on the icefields parkway about 100 km south of jasper in banff national park. there was avi debris scattered across the entire ridge so we had to take it easy. skinning was w-a-y easier than i thought it would be...all those childhood years cross-country skiing in the prairies finally paid off! we practiced some avi safety and then headed down. got some turns in on the new board, which performed rad. as did my combo of burton sapphire boots and escapade bindings. the slope was popping underneath my bf when we ventured into the open terrain so we stuck along the trees. not really worthy of a TR but had to spread the word! can't wait to get out again. leavin' for vegas tomorrow to climb over christmas but going to waterton (canadian side of glacier) on jan.7th. hopefully i'll have some pics to post and a new adventure to report!

Bring you BC gear to vegas with you. There is a ski area with backcountry about 40 miles outside of vegas. look on the web at the las vegas ski/snowboard park. The resort itself is closed due to an inbounds avy death last season, but if they have coverage there is a lot of BC terrain.
