Across the world there are so many mountains and so little time. Likewise, in Wyoming, there are so many peaks and so little time. I found this out this weekend. With Christmas around the corner, there are many staff Christmas parties and obligations. None of which are conducive to long day tours crammed into a small amount of time.
The Lander Crew had been eyeing B.F.P. Couloir nearly all fall. Conditions on this route never seemed to be quite right up until this last weekend. So we made our journey on little time. We didn't bag the peak, but came pretty close. Doesn't really matter in the end because it was a stellar day on a new line that we have not skied yet. We got to eye the prize.
Our tour started on top of this peak on the Continental Divide. We skied from looker's right, down the ridge, and into the bowl.
Once in the bowl, you can see B.F.P. Couloir. This is our actual line that we ended up skiing. It does continue all of the way to the top, but we had to turn around due a Christmas Party obligation. Tis the season. Bah humbug, let's ski.
A closer view:
Skinning up to the base of the Couloir:
Up into the apron, nothing but smiles for miles:
Time to boot it. The snow pack was bomber. Little to no instabilities. Just fresh on bomber base…wasn't slabby at all.
Nearing the choke and our turnaround point:
The South Dakota boy experiences a great climb. Good slope angle:
Michael Jordan? It really is not that tough of a climb.
Pure bliss for glisse. Nearing the choke:
Dropping into the apron:
Michael Jordan again? Sweet lines none the less:
Final pitch after the couloir made for lots of vert!
Looking back at it all…next time, the summit!
Just happy to be out and getting some. Can hardly wait for Christmas vacation.
pbelitz, your idle threats have gone far enough. I am on the phone as we speak; the Washington State DOT is triangulating your position in preparation for spray control by artillery fire. (Please do not deviate from your current coordinates, or attempt takeoff from a frictionless treadmill.)

Thanks for sharing the stoke!
I wish Christmas could wait.. Marrooned in PA for the holidays. If you Wyoming guys keep posting TR's like this, there'll be a buncha feral, powderstarved (endin soon, methinks) Sierra splitters knocking on your doors.

oh my God. That looks so nice. You always have kick ass scenery in your tr's WSR. Never a straight forward, simple outing from you. Always some crazy couloir or approach.
I am assuming somewhere amidst all those skiers there is a splitter... the photographer perhaps...
In pic 11, do you come straight down from that cornice?!? If so, dats a proud line! (Edit: I now see from the last one that most prolly don't but you certainly could!)
