carrying bindings with a split surf is kinda bulky so I built these out of some volle slider plates. They worked good on a recent outing. probably not for every trip but for short powsurf laps they are easy to pack and very light. Used eva snowskate foam on the tops with just a bit of extreme grip under the front foot.
I have a machine that cut the slots in the sliding plates for the webbing but you could just drill a series of 1/4 holes and clean it out with a file or take it to a machine shop where it would be a simple procedure.
Dig the low pro designs guys. Been meaning to try do some like yours chiller with voile straps. How are they when side hilling? On a scale of 1-10 how much support would they provide compared to a binding like the spark blaze? The added heelcup like firstlights would bolster things a bit more, but I really like the idea of them packing up flat. Chiller what boots do you have in the shot?
on a scale of 1 to 10.....I don't know, they are surprisingly fuctional with just the strap and coming across a fully windblown south face with a frozen rain crust on sunday they did ok. Would be hard to compare them to full on bindings as far as support goes but they are comfortable so I give them a solid 5.
One very low profile set up that I'm sure would be bomber is those Mtn approach skis bindings of which you can't get by themselves but the ankle strap design is very ingenious.
