So I ended up going to Rainier solo yesterday. There was snow in the paradise parking lot when I got there at 9 am, and up to a foot deep drifts on the trail up to pebble creek. Absolutely gorgeous day, mostly blue with scattered clouds, and a nice temp. It was really clear, could see Adams, St Helens Hood and Jefferson. Snow was wind effected but still soft and smooth. The bath tub sized suncups were almost completely filled in. Still variable because of the wind, but there was nice ribbons of pow to be had.
I met up with some skiers touring about half way up the snow field and ended up riding down with them. Super cool heads. We were the first ones to the camp, and saw quite a few others headed up on our way down. Got just over 2800' vert of turns. Capped off 12 months straight of riding at least once a month for me.
This is a video Carl (one of the skiers) got. I got some video too, I'll probably throw something together shortly

Very cool to see folks riding some real mountains and real snow. (Been inundated with short clips of short runs on manmade snow lately). The music at the beginning was super dramatic, I kept thinking a shark was bound to jump up out of the snow and grab someone.

it was some dangerous for crevasses?
however, was already a good trip
No the muir snow field is really mellow, it had a couple cracks last month, but nothing you couldn't walk over.

Funny. I just watched the viddy on tay. Was wondering if that was you due to you post in the partner section.
Zack and his girl are aaesome. Cool you hooked up with them.
Thanks, They were awesome, it was cool to link up with someone I didn't have to wait for. Having just moved up last October, its been hard to find anyone to ride with. I get it, Its hard to let a new guy in, and most of the partner sections are all newbies. Hopefully this year I'll meet some more people who like to get after it.
