Has anyone been out on the snow yet this year? Hiking or sliding? With the forecasted few inches possible for the Wasatch on Friday night, I decided to go for a hike Saturday morning. This whole early season thing has always appealed to me...
Sometimes a trace in the upper lot at Alta can mean 6-10" up higher, so off I went.
Actually, it turned out to be about 3 inches or so settled, and was melting with a touch of sun.
Stripped in some areas.
Could this remain in some areas? Hmm... keep an eye on it, but it'll probably warm enough to melt.
I wasn't brave enough, but Clay Carroll was. Making it happen early season.
At the very least, it was nice to be out in the mountains. Looking forward to another good season here in the Wastatch!
(You know, the Wastatch... referencing that earlier "splitboard festivals" thread and the original wasatch splitfest... anybody still have that t-shirt?)

Snurfer and I went for a run/hike in the uintas on saturday. rain and muddy down low, but full on winter conditions up high 4-5" of snow. I was back on the mirror lake highway on sunday and only a trace remained.
