This is an attempt to flush out the other 5 or so people living in Los Angeles that also happened to have moved here from someplace with better snow, but couldn't bring themselves to selling their splitboards either. I work on the Angeles National Forest and would love to do some backcountry lines on my home turf if this winter delivers, but I'm really after some partners to carpool with up to the Sierra for some long day trips or hut tours. 20 years on the snow, 2 with a split and all the equipment, including a recent Avalanche 1 course in Utah. And my pace is surfing the well anchored trees rather than dropping lines with names like Cardiac Ridge.

Let's go.....when we get snow!
Check out this group, they have a 700' vert rope tow next to Mt Waterman. Nice group and the surrounding area has great terrain to start spliting on. Year round membership to their club is less than most ski pass deals.
I'm down for some eastern sierra tours, Baldy, San G, and San Jacinto are all fair game.
I'm actually selling my split if anyone is interested. I'm sticking with my skis for touring... just more comfortable with em. Let me know if anyone is interested...

Anyone know of avy class offerings in the Los Pades, San Gabriel, or San Bernadino mts? Or a list where some are posted. I'm in LA and got Tremper's book. That only goes so far, you know? As a church musician, shlepping my stuff all the way up to the Sierras for a weekend is not an option.
I will be moving to Santa Barbara the beginning of January. I have two years of experience in the Mount Shasta area backcountry one and a half seasons on snowshoes and the last half of last year on a splitboard. I have got a car and would be willing to carpool for trips. I am looking for people to backcountry ride with or hit the resorts when the backcountry is to dangerous. I have got one friend in the area who is looking to start backcountry riding but will be on snowshoes. seems like there is a good little group of people around the area who are stoked on riding. I am not looking forward to leaving winter behind but look forward to the waves. I plan on going riding at least every other weekend.

Hi All, Wanted to introduce myself. Got into split-boarding last year after ditching the snowshoes. Beyond the last few seasons suffering in So Cal I have 6 seasons in CO and and two in NZ. I have completed Avy 1 and am looking for partners on trips in the locally and the Sierras. Looking to get something going out of Bishop/Mammoth next weekend. Let me know if you are interested. Cheers, Tim
