german splitboarders like this , by this some time in e bay - new inliner and perfect is the thing to ride perfect and cheap

They are heavy, I think, even more than the newer boots. They are crampon compatible and have vibram soles. Put in thermo liners and you will be warm in them.

the "vintage" raichle "snowboarder" (white/colored) or the newer "121" (blue or black) are popular because you can get this boot really cheap on ebay. I have a pair of them (bought them for a handful of bucks), it's a nice alternative to use them in hard/icy spring conditions.
during the ascent in hardboots I feel more comfortable and save on traversing, but riding in hardboots isn't that what I love. so I prefer as often as it's possible and save too my favorite setup (burton si).
