My season ended mid March last season because I broke my spine in 3 places. After a full recovery I've been charging full steam. Hiking almost everyday, lots of cross country exploring and line scoping, climbing, road/mountain biking (i don't own a car), backpacking, fishing.... Lots of fishing (fished around 42 lakes in mammoth area so far this summer), paddle boarding, slack lining, cliff jumping, oh!... And dreaming of snow, Every damn day!
Just need to fix some coreshots from when I crashed, get some fresh outerwear, and some snow then we're good to go

holy crap, thats an impressive thing to recover from.
my prep consists of working extra hours to pay for some new gear, and "power hiking" the hill behind my house 3 times a week (or more if im feeling frisky). from my front door to the top its 1000ft. not as hard core as many on here, but its better than nothin'.
also, theres the daily screening of craigslist, etc. looking for the gear deals.
oh, and a full clean out and organise of my gear room.

Ouch. I unfortunately can relate. I tore two cervical discs (c1 + c3) back in March and have had a pretty rough recovery until recently. I still managed a hut trip in April (thanks to the drugs) and one split outing in early June, but I paid for it
Luckily, I started to feel much better in July and August and bought a new mountain bike. I've been riding the snot out of it and have dropped a few pounds that I gained in my down time. Feeling stronger now too.
Can't wait for winter but I wouldn't mind a longish fall now that I've rediscovered mountain biking.
Yesterday we got some snowfall in the Colorado Central Mountains from Loveland Pass back up. Just a dusting but the season will be here shortly.
- Doing 8 weeks of strict paleo diet, daily workouts, daily stretching, and taking horrible fish oil as part of the Whole Life Challenge that started this past Saturday.
- When A-basin opens in November or earlier, hope to do some uphill splitting to get accustom to the splitboard.

Lifting weights, running, crossfit, splitboarding, scoping lines, buying new gear, waiting for my Splitboard to be finished, which should be very soon!

Hey, LBK, My wife and I are also taking part in the WLC this time around. A lot of the motivation was to get back in gear before the snow season comes up. We are also programming our workouts specifically toward our weaknesses as it comes to snowboarding.
Good luck on your WLC.
Also, trying to find the wife a splitboard before this season starts, I promised her she would never have to snowshoe up a slope again.

Bought a splitboard (K2 Panoramic 154 with Light Rails - not my first choice, but I got a deal I couldn't refuse) and a small assortment of other new gear, signed up for an avy course, and am eating better and doing some weight training and pilates lately. I have a fairly physical job that keeps me in decent shape, but I did find myself bonking a bit last year on long days of riding, even doing snowmachine shuttles. I'm usually out hiking a lot more, but this year the weather has been awful. I only have one season of snowboarding so far, but I'm off quite a bit in the winter, so if it'll ever stop raining and snow I just need to get out on my board as much as I can.
