the very first one was organized by DJ in SLC when he worked for voile and he hosted at his house. I think he coined the term splitfest as well. It was a year before the "official" donner fest, which was very cool too.

it was awesome because cowboy and the wow gave presentations and we got good snow. met lots of splitters that weekend and it was the beginning of the "splitboard tribe".

best of luck on the article.

the first time i heard of splitboard.com was at virginia lakes in 2005 or 2006?

there was a group of you guys camping at the end of the road. maybe a past splitfest?

we rode the south peak double chutes and wrapped around down onto that main face of south peak. when we got to the bottom one of you guys congratulated us on our line and said how you were watching us climb up the ridge.

they told us about splitboard.com and i thought you guys must have been in the industry or something. i didnt know about the forum until much later.

anyone remember that?

We just had Austrlia's first splitboard fest.

was a great bluebird weekend for it had fun meeting up with 30-40 others who are into it as well.

head to here for some photos and details about it. Will be updated over the next week as the organiser gets photos from all participants and puts them up.

haha. original scrubfest was awesome! Me and bridgerhippy even managed to blow a tire on his super old suby and spend three days on a donut and drive back to MT on it(he actually left it on for like three months until he got rid of the car). I'm sure J could fill you in on the early scrubfests.

DJ barney was the man

agreed. hooked me up back in the day and I'm sure many others.

If anyone know more info or would like me to list there event with some other title, please let me know. I still need some contacts for a few of these events and will take any help I can get in tracking those folks down. I'm working on getting a list of questions out to those people who put on the event and will get that out to everyone shortly.

If you have put on an event, please send me an email so I can put you on the distribution list for getting your input.

Thanks everyone.

Next, up. If you are planning on hosting an event this season (2012/2013), please send me an email if you would like me to mention your event in the article. I'll try to get that list posted in the next few days as I want to make sure I get everyone included that wants to be.

2005 - Donner was organized by Zach Davis when he worked for Couloir

The saddlebag event was more a gathering of splitters, not necessarily a splitfest, but was either organized by jimw or bcrider. no sponsors or anything like that so I don't know if it would officially qualify as a splitfest type event.

Seems like there's a splitfest going on just about every week with good snow (or not) in the Sierra. Is it winter yet? I miss you guys! :grouphug:
