so i just got into splitboarding. I have a jones solution 164 and and i wear size 12 boot. I only have 2 big trips with this board and i have some serious trouble getting back traction on my heel. Pretty sure my heel overhang is causing me to slide out. the waist on my board is 26cm. should i invest into another board with a bigger waist. Is there anything i can do about this problem? Your advice would be much appreciated.

Make sure your pucks are set up correctly. They don't necessarily center your binding, especially with and aggressive angled stance. You may want to switch them around.

This is off the spark product guide:

Check your board set-up. Make sure the Voile pucks with the ONE slot are on the HEEL edge of the board and the TWO slot pucks are on the TOE side (using the two slot pucks on the heel edge can cause heel drag).

if you are riding regular bindings on voile plates that could be your problem.

being a big footed guy I'd be willing to be its just a symptom of the hooves.

Welcome to snowboarding - you'll be experiencing a lot of problems with this.

1 - if you're able to/comfortable riding with it - open up your stance width - it will put you on wider sections of the board.

2 - Adjusting your angles to your max comfort level will minimize the drag also.

3 - Always adjust/set your binding position to balance toe and heel drag ie. make sure you're not completely one sided as in all heel drag with no toe drag.

4 - only riding fluffy powder makes a world of difference!! lol

And why is every "wide" version of a board half a centimeter wider than standard? Gay city.

If you're not able to get a comfortable stance while minimzing the drag to an acceptabel level, you're looking at a custom board - because short of splitting an Elan el grande (which is still not very WIDE for people with big feet) you won't find a waist width larger than 27cm anywhere on the planet.

As Chris said, if you're not using split specific binding you'll lose some responsiveness and that could be part of it.

Also, if this is your first foray into rockered-type boards that could have an effect too. It takes a little while to adjust your style without camber.
