im new be nice....
i love making things, and things that work for me .
has anybody made a snow saw? also anybody made any cool mods to their gear?
for EG. i attatched straps and closed cell foam to my water bottels so i can hang them off my waist strap upside down and they wont freeze to fast. added straps and buckles to my backpack to hold my bedding nice and snugg. also managed to save 500grams by removing/ trimming straps, drilling holes in wooden stove base, trimming wind gard...etc
and always looking for lighter and faster ways of doing things

I brought a small blade hand saw from Canadian tire $10 similar shape to g3s saw, cut the handle off and made some holes in it to connect it to ski pole.
snowsaw: longest reciprocating saw blade i could find, with 7 inches of stainless tube riveted to it for a handle. it clamps in my flicklock pole when i remove the bottom section.
several other stupid things that both have and havent worked.

Yeah the Recipro blade works great. I have done the same thing to create a snow saw. I also carry a 5mm cord with a knots every 12" or so which doubles as a cornice saw as well as a isolated column saw. I have also hacked (at a 45) a few inches off an old ice ax, instead of spending $100+ for a BD ultra light.
After experiencing a friend take a pretty huge slide while skinning up Bloody on my inaugural splitboarding adventure, I decided to make one of these as my first mod
