Wow that's pretty gnarly. Seems like they killed it! Thanks for sharing.

We'll be up on Rainier this week just making turns on the playground that is the Muir snowfield.

Me and my wife are here at the park right now. With the weather window yesterday we rode the Muir Snowfield. The snow was pretty saturated with water and a little bit of a funky layering with a slight crust overlaying a corn layer and then some of the new, water saturated snow on top. It was totally stable though especially on such a low angle slope like Muir.

It made for smooth turns although a bit slow in the afternoon when we descended. There is snow all the way to Paradise so you can skin and ride all the way to your car. The sun cups aren't bad at all down low either, it's more the footsteps you have to watch out for!

Also they were running supplies in and out of Muir while were there all day. And lastly we heard that they were recovering the Ranger's body that day as well. Very sad and it reminds me how lucky we are to have Search and Rescue people out there.

Yep I was there last weekend with the same conditions as aliasptr reported. Watch out under any overhanging ice exposure, big chunks were falling on the nisqually glacier, and up high every 10 minutes or so we would hear a rumble of something coming down, but it was out of sight. The snow was really nice on muir, and a bit sticky below.
