I'm pretty on the fence about this whole Antarctica tourism stuff. Do we really need people fucking up the last unpopulated continent? How much gas do you need to burn to ski something for novelties sake? Car to the airport, flight to South America, car to the ship, then a luxury cruise liner back and forth. Having said that, all the trip reports I've read make it look like a pretty fun time.

I've been to Jackson Hole, I've been to SLC. Hell, I Live in Alaska! I love burning gas, especially 2-stroke, and some would call me a hippie. That being said... It's F-ing Antarctica for F's sake! I'm going, even if it does cost the same as a new sled. If I don't do it, someone else will.
Peace,
and maybe I'll see some of y'all there.
just sayin'...

You are definitely entitled to your opinion. Personally, I have a goal to set foot on every continent before I keel over, so this is my way to hit Antarctica without doing the standard 'let's go climb Vinson'. And it lets my girl go as well, which she wouldn't do for Vinson. Plus, exactly how is this going to "F up the last unpopulated continent"?
