So it seems we've all been tagging the Sister this month. So I figured I'd get in on the action. And why not? She's a damn good time!
I went to Bend to visit some friends and take in the June multi-sport action. It's great having a snowboard and a bike along on a trip. It keeps happening to me in Oregon. No complaints.
I headed out to the Devil's Lake Campground the night before. It's not plowed out, but there's room for a few cars off the road. I wondered why there were a couple Forest Service trucks there, but didn't think anymore. Then I was woken up at 12AM, and 130AM, as people came back to their trucks, tailgates clanged, gear got sorted/tossed, engines idled, radios played, doors slammed. Ughh... Didn't sleep too well overall.
So I slept in a little, but was still the first one on the hill. Went up the red route & down the green. Managed to ride from right at the summit, down across the crater, pole along to the edge, and then drop onto the Clark Glacier snowfields, which were prime for the descent. It got a bit sticky down low, but the ride was excellent overall. The ride out through the trees was interesting, and probably won't last a whole lot longer. Then it was back to town for food, drink, and a soak in the McMenamin's soaking pool, which is $5 WELL SPENT.

Nice man, love the shot of the geese and Bachelor at the end. Riding down the Clark is sweet, and it just gets better the further west you go. I found out over the years that either camping on the mountain or down by Elk Lake seems to result in more sleep than staying at the trailhead.....lots of activity there on the weekends.
