After being camped out in the Sisters area and catching the Rodeo we decided to check out Three Fingered Jack.

We started from the Jack Lake trailhead and planned on taking the Canyon Creek Meadows trail.





There was about a mile and a half or so of walking before we hit snow. It was fun as usual.



Through one area of burned forest we had a great view of Black Butte.



Once we hit snow we had planned to keep an east bearing. There were plenty of skin and boots tracks to follow. In the burn we had great views again.

Following the tracks had us on a high traverse that was up and out of the meadow. It made for difficult skinning at times since the snow surface was still very firm in the shade of the trees. Without ski crampons we booted some sections and opted to not transition every time the snow changed.



As we left the trees behind the snow softened and allowed for the use of our splits again. We could now see Three Fingered Jack!



And a great zone to ride which I believe to be the NE Bowl of Jack that only had a couple of tracks from the weekend.



We continued ahead and then booted up the slopes to gain the ridge.



Once on top of the ridge we had glorious views of the South Face of Jack.

We hung out and ate some PB&J, drank some water and took in the views. We transitioned and got stoked for our short but sweet runs.

Kelly opted for the ridge to lookers left while I punched the gully where tracks were.



The snow was fantastic. Smooth, fast and fun! Sorry no riding shots on such a short face.

The snow portion of the exit was ok as the snow was still firm in the trees making skiing out difficult but we did our best. Some sections were super fun and skiable though.

It was quite warm out so I rocked a very Euro look the whole trip except for the riding portion.



Then I realized how ridiculous I looked and decided to crank it to 11.



The hike out was just as fun as we remembered it on the way in.



Once we hit the wilderness boundary we were home free.

Nice! I was wanting to get in there this year but will probably have to wait until next year. Pretty area for sure.

I highly recommend it for scenic value. We really scored with the snow that day and we should have put some laps in. Otherwise it's a pretty long tour for not a lot of vert.
