Why ditch the stock liner? Is it really that bad? Should I wear out the stock liner then go with the thermo liner?
The stock liners will work…its just that thermo liners are so much better.
My size 9 stock liners weighed 12oz each, the thermo liners weigh 3oz each. The Clicker boots are inherently on the heavy side due to the associated hardware in the boot, any weight you can shave off helps. The liner upgrade is an easy way to remove over ½ lb from each foot. Will this make a break a tour? No…but happy feet (with less weight on them) will make it more enjoyable.
Along with the weight savings you also get a more comfortable and responsive fit due to the custom mold.
If money is tight...use what you got and upgrade later. If not, think of all the money you saved by getting the boots off ebay and spring for the liners too.

False alarm! The seller said the boots were heavily used, at least three seasons. F*** that, not for $125. I'll keep looking, but the key now is to get a second set of HB bindings for the splitty. Maybe next year I'll break down for the whole lot, softy set up.
BTW, I didn't know the stock liners way that much more than the thermo's. I understand now.
Snow report: Still no snow in the SW. May have to hit the road very soon....
