You guys may have read some of my other posts on this forum but this one is particularly important to me.
I started splitting this most recent season and got about 20 days in on my freebird with blazes.
Now for my point....I am 14 years old....are there any other splitters out there that are younger than 18? Am I an odd duck? If there are any others, feel free to post your gear reviews, trip reports, photos, videos, or anything else related to youth backcountry snowboarding...
P.S. I would love to hear the older guys' responses to this "new generation of splitters"
Thanks, WF84093

FOURTEEN ??? Thats awesome man. I bet your friends think you crazy. While they slide rails and hit jumps your heading out the back. really cool. Stick with it and you may just have enough days to shread all the big lines in your backyard

but, learn the snow and be careful

Yeah, there's a few young dudes getting after it. Oddly enough, bcrider's son has popped up in some trip reports, but he doesn't post here. Maybe one day, maybe it's just not his thing. The cool thing about splittng is no one really cares about age. I mean, Tex is like 80, even though he acts like a teen, and he's always down to ride.
But seriously, it takes time to learn the ways of the mountains, hopefully you're hooking up with some guys who've been around to show you the way. Splitting is really just starting to take off, and there is still only a small percentage of snowboarders overall who do it, and many of us used to be the park kids who have abused our bodies on icy kickers and now have wised up and chase pow instead. So you're getting a good head start.

Good work WasatchFR!! It's really cool to hear about young guys getting into it. Maybe we can hook up next season for a day out in the backcountry.
