11 yrs ago 2 different guys were on Everest to snowboard.
Both succeeded in different ways, Stephan Gatt-alpine style. Marco Siffredi-psycho descent.

RIP Marco Siffredi. I wish that he could have lived through the ambition of his youth.

The Direct North Face (Hornbein-Japanese Couloirs) is The line on Everest, and Marco realized this. Stephen Koch, to his credit, made all of his Everest snowboarding attempts on this line (alpine style sans oxygen as well) despite the fact that he might have completed his seven summits snowboarding quest by choosing a more likely descent line (Norton Couloir,or even the South Col).
