Been looking at both these boards too. Here's the response I got from Lisa (owner) within a day of asking several questions about them.
"Go longer if you are mainly riding open steeps, are an aggressive rider, or like a stiffer flex pattern. Go shorter if you want greater maneuverability, will be riding tight spots like trees, or like a softer flex. I would think that a 160 or 162 would do the trick for you since it sounds like your resort board is a little shorter than that - I typically do not recommend that people size up dramatically with a split but a slight jump upward will probably serve you well. the Storm would be a great choice for deep snow, but handles all conditions admirably. The Zephyr is a little more of an all mountain board, has decent float but not as good as the Storm in that capacity. Hopefully that helps, but please feel free to hit me back with additional questions!"
Great customer service. Pretty much reinforces what I've read/heard.
After talking with Lisa yesterday I decided on the storm. Sounds more powder oriented but sounds like it should handle most anything too. She also said it will be a little turnier too. Which is what I want for tree riding.
Went the the 166 26 waist. Can't wait to give it a try. It is a sexy board.
