Can anyone help me with some info. on my Voile skins, they are leaving globs of glue on my board. How do I get the glue off safely , can I fix the skins or are they toast? They aren't very old only a couple years is this typical? How does this problem develop ie did I screw up in some common way.

Store your skins in the freezer or somewhere cold, the glue will fail if its stored in a place too warm.

Try removing some of the funkified glue by cutting some brown paper bags into strips, placing the strips on the glue side of the skin and applying an iron. Described in more detail here under "Glue Renew Transfer Sheets":

Obviously this will remove some glue but will expose some of the glue beneath that will be in better shape. I did this for some old voile skins and it helped out a bit. The skins were good for another season but became less reliable as the season wore on.
So, I performed the above step again recently. In addition I bought some of the BD gold label and re-glued the skins using the instructions that come with the glue. So far the re-glue has worked great.

As far as getting the glue off the base, regular base cleaner should work, or a solvent like Goo Gone.

Never heard of putting the skins in the freezer. True, they can get messed up if they get too hot, but I've pretty much always just stuck them back in the pack (usually after drying them out, but sometimes not even that), and the pack goes in the garage (which stays pretty cool) till the next tour. No problems yet.

Thanks for the help! I called Voile and they sent me a skins care article that had similar pointers. They basically recommend cleaning and then using parchment paper to re-iron the old glue that has bubbled.
