So I'm really close to laying down the money for a splitboard but I need some help from the veterans here.

I'll probably go with a Voile because its so much more affordable (Unless I can find a used Prior or Venture). But which length should I go with? I'm 6'3" 180 lbs (without a pack). I currently ride a Burton Malolo 166 which has something like 25mm of taper compared to 8mm for the Mojo. Also the stance is set back 5cm where the Mojo is only 3.

So because I'm so tall would it be better for flotation and overall feel if I went with a Mojo 171 instead of the Mojo 166 considering what I'm currently used to?

I'm also 6'3'' but about 190-195lbs and I ride the mojo 166. Its been fine for everything ive had it in. Sometimes I would like to see how the 171 would ride, but im afraid it wouldn't be as manueverable in tight spots.

Do you ever find yourself wishing for a few extra centimeters?

I can't speak for any board other than the mojo, but I'm 6'3" 175 lbs packless and there is no way I would want my Mojo any shorter than 171. If you are used to a 166 anyway, taking into consideration you will have a pack on in the backcountry, a few extra cm won't hurt. Out here in the selkirks we get to ride some damn tight trees and I have no problems threading the Mojo anywhere it needs to go. I say get the 171.

Don't forget to take the terrain and snow you will be in most of the time into account. I'm 5'11" 180 packless and I ride a mojo 166 with no problems. However when that suckers on my back and I'm bushwacking up a dry approach its a whole different story. Personally I can't and don't want to imagine anything bigger than a 166 strapped to my back. :?
