I'm thinking of buying a Prior Spearhead Splitboard 172. however, the price (best deal i found was $1049 skins included) is more than i can afford to spend. does anyone have a suggestion for a comparable splitboard at a lower price?
OR, does anyone have a used Prior Spearhead 172 they'd like to sell?
Also, what about boots and bindings for this beast. right now i have burton soft boots/ bindings. should i go the hard boot route?

I have been riding a solid 166 SH for the past couple of seasons and I rode a split 166 SH last season and will again this season. You will find boards that can function in similar conditions, but I have tested quite a few different solid powder boards against my solid SH and I don't think you will find a board that rides like it.
It is a powder board though. It has a relatively short effective edge, a big nose, tight sidecut, and lots of taper. I do not find it to be a great all around board and have a Mojo for corn riding.
The rockered boards I have ridden float as well in the powder, but the ride is very different. Not sure if they are any cheaper though.
I ride AT boots on my 166 SH split, but softboots work just as well. What ever you normally ride will be fine.
